The, Spirit Animals, first danced in the night sky. The heavens were so broad that at times they didn’t meet up with each other for centuries. Coyote suggested, “Let us sneak into this earth place and conduct our ceremonies there.” Cougar, cautioned,“It is dangerous for us to attend story hour on earth and it will surely cost us our lives.”

“We can go to this bountiful earth,” the Spirit Animals insisted. So one by one they came as lucky stars streaking across the sky. They assembled in the high desert with new senses of smell, touch, sight, sound and taste. They felt their fur and heard their calls. Coyote hooted out, “I got it, I stole the boon of the gods fire! Let us dance and sing.” Cougar too, enjoyed this new luxury, yet it made her nervous. She warned all in this new circle of light. “We stand out of the darkness for all to see. With these new senses I now feel a strange new thing as never before, hunger. I sensed there was danger here on this earth. Now we can not return to the skies until the end of our days”

Hunger; A call of the wild, tracks on a trail. The animals sing to the sky from which we came. Now life hangs in the balance of each animals existence.
